A Message From The ED April is Child Abuse Prevention Awareness Month

A Message From The Executive Director
April is Child Abuse Prevention Awareness Month
March 2014

As part of a national movement to stop child abuse and neglect before it occurs, Prevent Child Abuse Hawaii, Hawaii State Department of Health and the Child Abuse Prevention Planning Council, a committee of private, state and Federal organizations, sponsor Child Abuse Prevention Awareness Month during April each year. April is devoted to the issue of child abuse prevention because research shows there is a high incidence of child abuse in April.

Child Abuse Prevention Awareness Month has been observed each April since its first presidential proclamation in 1983. Although we know awareness of child abuse and neglect needs to be a year-round commitment, concentrating our efforts in April serves to focus public attention on the positive solutions to a devastating problem.

Through a wide range of activities during April 2014, Prevent Child Abuse Hawaii, Hawaii State Department of Health and our many Partners for Prevention throughout the state of Hawaii on the Child Abuse Prevention Planning Council offer everyone an opportunity to join this movement. Please join your voice with ours to prevent child abuse and neglect in the state of Hawaii. Please review all our  flyers and come and participate in the many events coming up. Our first event is the Pinwheels for Prevention Planting on Sunday March 30 from 2-4 PM at the Hawaii State Capitol front lawn.
