The recent high profile stories of abuse involving NFL players is bringing focus to the problems of domestic violence and child abuse and neglect. These stories are offering our nation an opportunity to talk about the importance of creating a culture of respect for others, including children, and to talk about the long term negative impact of abuse and neglect on early child development.

April is Child Abuse Prevention Awareness Month

As part of a national movement to stop child abuse and neglect before it occurs, Prevent Child Abuse Hawaii, Hawaii State Department of Health and the Child Abuse Prevention Planning Council, a committee of private, state and Federal organizations, sponsor Child Abuse Prevention Awareness Month during April each year. April is devoted to the issue of child abuse prevention because research shows there is a high incidence of child abuse in April.

Brunch with Santa 2013 Sold Out

Prevent Child Abuse Hawaii’s annual Brunch with Santa is a Christmas tradition families look forward to.  So, it was not a surprise when the event sold out weeks before it took place on Saturday, December 14, 2013 at the Japanese Cultural Center Manoa Grand Ballroom.
